I wanted a new laptop, I needed something powerful for a variety of reasons - to me, it was either buy myself or have MyCo buy it. Given the choice of who paid, I think I made the right one
Ultimately, it is a business tool - alright, the discrete gfx card may not have been necessary - and as the business I am in requires a certain level of hardware (actually stipulated in my current contract!) then there really was nothing foolish involved. To my mind, it was fortuitous that the contract had such stipulations, as it lined up nicely with what I wanted, but wasn't sure I could justify
