Surely the last thing you should do if you're having trouble sleeping is remind yourself of your latest previous waking activity.

I have a special pile of boring books to dip into last thing, and they take my mind off whatever I was doing earlier.

You're probably right, but it's not deliberate - it's just the way my Android phone works. I generally have a quick surf of the BBC news site then get back down, but that inevitably means opening the browser at the last page I looked at before shutting it down first.
