Watching TV on a PC, while working in another window

Hi,

A friend of mine wants to be able to watch TV on his PC, while he has another window open doing something else (e.g. the TV window takes up a quarter of the screen, while working on a Word document in the other half). I cant seem to figure out if this is possible.

I have seen a product called neoTV and have tried their 'support' email, but all they seem to do is tell me to try their trail application The problem is that I do not have a TV card! And I am not going to buy a TV card just to be able to tell a friend if what he wants to do is possible.

Would appreciate it if someone could explain what I can and cant do with a TV card in a PC.

As long as you can resize the window used by the tv app that comes with the tuner card you can do it no problem.

Tell your "mate" that pretending to work on a Word document while watching the World Cup is morally wrong.

It's OK to "work" from home on the important days though.

Apparantly the BBC is going to stream all the world cup games over the net (available to British users).

So will you need that TV card anyway?!

There are USB plug in versions these days - useful for a laptop. Have a look on ebuyer or something.

Very probably, but the tv detector van couldn't find you which more to the point.

you have to give your name/address/postcode when buying these from a shop - I'd assume the online retailers pass on the details to TVL too ...

Presumably you'd have to register to recieve the streaming video.

You could use a pseudonyme I suppose.
