A primary key is a field in a record, usually an integer, of unique value so you can tell the records apart.

If creating a table from an excel sheet each record would usually correspond to a row, so a primary key would be a column, eg row number. If merging with other tables you obviously need unique numbers for all records in the combined table.

Think need more info before any real experts can help beyond above basics. Is this importing into Access?
