Salutory lesson on spam

I put a feedback link on my small business website and thought it far too obscure and unimortant to get spammed so didn't bother with any protection code. Slightly surprised to find over 27,000 messages on it today!!! Just as well I don't pay for the database by the Mb!

How they think I can use that much viagra I am not sure.

You'll probably find someone has spoofed your domain name in the 'From' address for 30 million spam emails, and you're getting the undeliverables back.

I've had that a few times on domain names that I own. Its a bit of a shocker when you fire up outlook and the progress box tells you you are currently downloading 1 of 14985 messages

Fortunately not. It doesn't send any emails, just puts the comments in MySQL. All of them lovely unique spammy rubbish.

Protected now.

Look at it this way if the products were real and you'd only taken up 20% of the offers you would have owned a todger that could circumnavigate the globe

Some websites don't have a clickable link but will have something like info at mywebsite.com

You mean an actual contact email address in HTML? - fatal. They pick those up.

They usually just pick a domain name and randomly generate the name before the @ to use in the 'from' field.

You won't know they've done it until you get a million undeliverables back to you. You can stop the undeliverables by not using defualt routing obviously, but that doesn't stop the spamees thinking you sent it :-)
