Problem writing music tracks to CD's on Windows Vista

Awkward trying to put music on to a CD using Windows Vista very quirky. One problem is that once something has been written to a CD it refuses to put the tracks on even after formatting the CD, and I can see there is a difference between a formatted CD and a blank one that hasn't been used. The formatting seems to write or leave blocks on it.

Is there a way to force Vista to put music tracks (different from copying files) on a CD with some data on it.
    I'm alright Jack
