    Iphone 3G and OS 4

My wife installed OS 4 on her iphone 3G and now it is running like a dog.

Any ideas, we have unflagged spotlight searched but is still very slow.

Anyway to reinstall the old OS?
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

Last week's iOS 4.1 update addresses 3G performance, along with a load of other stuff. Has she applied that?

I had the same problem with a iphone 3G.

          4.0.1 & 4.0.2 and 4.1 all were awful.

          solution that worked for me:

jailbreak it and turn off 'multitasking' and it works like 3.1.2

but youtube doesnt connect and the battery meter is all to cock

Still fence sitting on 3.13 on the missus's phone. Is it safe yet to let it upgrade to 4.1?

Don't think I'd bother if it's a 3G. A few of the features aren't available on it (multi tasking, home screen background) and it did noticably slow mine down. I've installed 4.1 on it and that seems faster than 4.0. I would check which features the 3G supports and see if you need any of them.

If it's a 3GS then that might be different. I think it supports more of the new features and is a bit quicker than the 3G anyway.
