Simple free *online* bug/issue tracking system

    Anyone recommend one?

Add bugs, issues and feature requests, categorise them, prioritise them and add a discussion type thread to each one.

Easily see which ones have been raised, which ones are now closed, and in what version and date they were fixed, etc.

Usual stuff, must be totally intuitive to users a require almost no learning curve.

    Few options:

http://www.mantisbt.org - Doesn't really do anything but track bugs
http://trac.edgewall.org/ - Lots of plugins, doesn't look too pretty though
http://www.bugzilla.org/ - Used by Mozilla (don't know if thats good or bad, but it's what everybody says about it...)

If you are willing to shell out some cash this looks promising, never tried it though:

I've used Bugzilla quite a bit (at several clients). Nothing too fancy, but satisfies the simple and free requirement.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

BugZilla is the one that springs to mind. Are you after an externally hosted service DP, or do you have a server you can install something on?

Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Sorry, when I say online I mean externally hosted and already setup waiting for me and others to register and get going.

I don't have the time or the inclination at the moment to install, host, setup anything, it needs to be out there online and I just sign up and go.

It needs to be ultra-simple and non techie.

These chaps claim to host free BugZilla instances, might be worth a look (never used them personally, they were just the top hit from a Google search for "bugzilla hosted").

How many users? You can get a 2-user totally free hosted Fogbugz service, Fogbugz is one of the top tools. Beyond that costs I'm afraid, bugzilla would be my choice in that case.
