    Handheld GPS units.

I'm looking for a reasonably prices handheld GPS for walking/biking. Ideally with detailed maps of the UK available - down to foot path / bridle path level. Anyone got one or got any suggestions?

Why not use your mobile phone?

Bargain. Runs from built in battery or 12v when in the car. Pocket sized.

Still don't understand why TomTom and all the rest aren't doing this stuff for normal phones (memory capacity?). Seems the technology is there, e.g. Falk, but still the only options are smartphone or paying a subscription for GPRS download of maps...

I use it on a Pocket PC - I have a bluetooth GPS unit and a universal charger that I can use just about anywhere - car cigarette lighter, USB, train electrical socket...

I have a spare one if anyone is interested (GPS unit I mean).
