          Emergency use! She'll run up a huge bill with emergency calls to her friends. If that's all she really needs it for, get her of those bracelets old people have for when they fall down stairs.

            That's why the JCB phone I posted earlier is such a good idea - she'll only want to use it (and risk her friends seeing it) for absolute emergencies.

                  doh - so it has to happen before she'll believe it.

                  The reason we're in debt is because she can't accept that money has to be put aside for 'unexpected expenditure' instead of spending it on things we don't need or don't use and having lofty ideas about buying iphones.
