    PS3 wont read discs.

PS3 has decided not to read discs anymore (CD/DVD/Data/Game)

It has the latest update installed. I've done a full restore, format, restore file system but still no.

Took it apart at the weekend and cleaned the blu lens with lens cleaner and a cotton bud.

It knows there's a disc in it as the little timer spins in the TRH corner but nothing happens.

    Auto-start discs is on.

    Any ideas folks?

It'll be a bust laser. About £100 to replace IIRC. If it's less than a year old then Sony will replace it.

Bought by first PS3 last weekend (£199.99 for the 120Gb slim) so hope the build quality is a bit better now than the original batch...

      Good choice

A couple of extra updates recently.
BBC iplayer is now (sort of) integrated into the OS
You can now download films as either a purchase or a rental from the playstation store. Over 500 titles to rent at the moment.

Yep...still getting to grips with it (i.e. whenever the kids can be prised off it). Quite like the 'seamless' view of media servers on my network too. I shouldn't surprised by all this technology (for the price) but can't help creaming over gadgets like this. Feel a muppet for not getting one before...

Both controllers vibrate....assumming that's her sole requirement

The £199.99 deal finished at Sainsburys last week so it's back to £249.99. Our Wii is gathering dust now since the Flubster family have turned their attention to the latest toy. Even the Mrs has started getting into EyePet (quite possibly the best game in the world...ever).

We moved house in Jan, I have as yet to wire the Wii up to the TV

Having said that, the Wii fit does look like good fun and I wouldn't mind trying second opinion 2

Second opinion is very good. However, after a few tough operations you may end up reaching for a drink to calm the nerves
