    Digital Download via Paypal

I sell a few custom software items from my website and need the option to download the item after the payment has been received via Paypal. I've done quite a few searches and I'm confused.

I could change my hosting package to an eShop but I would run the risk of losing lots of data/emails as part of the change over (or so 1and1 tell me).

Alternatively I've been trying to understand how to integrate some simple IPN scripts into my website but it's not my area of expertise and am likely to mess it up.

Has anyone done this and could give me some pointers?

    Cheers

I implemented such a system a while back, and seem to recall using IPN to trigger the creation of a one-shot download URL which was emailed to the buyer upon notification of a completed payment. It wasn't too difficult to develop against the Paypal sandbox, and there is sample code on the Paypal site.

How far have you got with the IPN scripts?

Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

I didn't use the route myself but probably Paypal's site has the answers. As I understand it, they have simple order buttons you can put on your site that directs people to their payment page. There's a download manager specifically for online software sales here.

I haven't got very far with it as I don't do this type of coding. All I wanted something to just plug into the 'Buy Now' button code, but it's a little more contrived than that.

The peergoal.com site looks like it's what I need and at £25ish a bargain, thanks.
