Must say that the new AVG 9 is not so good as previous versions.
Installed it last week on one of my laptops and all day today it has been popping up and asking to do a reboot after installing an emergency patch.

Ha ha the irony is that AVG's "web shield" or whatever it's called didn't flag the site as dodgy !Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostTop tip - use Virtual PC to visit dodgy sites.Comment

Is that a particular piece of software DP?Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostTop tip - use Virtual PC to visit dodgy sites.
When the website wrecks your OS (which it will everytime), delete the image and go back to a fresh one.
I just perform a system check-point every morning and roll back to that..."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

It's deleting swathes of my (virus-free) cygwin installation, by virtue of it's heuristic analysis.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostOuchies! Is it now throwing up one particular virus/issue or a whole host of them now? Which one/s?
It didn't find a couple of nasties and says it's getting rid of them, but I feel it's "back to backup" time here. What a waste of a day

Why oh why do people trust that piece of tulip that is AVG? It is ******* crap! It consistently comes bottom of the free anti virus software.
Use it at your peril.
If you want free use Avira or Avast.
I personally use the Avira Premium Security. OK it costs £39 for 3 pc's for a year but that's a small price to pay.
I really cant believe people take such risks with their AV as far as AVG is concerned.I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!
