My neighbour`s Talk Talk router was trashed by a power outage a couple of weeks ago. He had to spend three hours on the phone to India to try and get a replacement. It still hasn`t turned up so he`s using my spare Netgear.

This is Talk Talk yes? If so, tiscali are now part of TT.

I used Be for quite a while, very good service and they don't give a fudge what you download (although they are owned by 02).

Have had to change recently as I moved out into the sticks and Be require your local exchange to be furnished with their hardware - my new one isn't.

Now with Plusnet as the options out here are rubbish and all use BT hardware anyway...

I use ADSL24 and I'm very happy with them.

Is that on their Premium LLU service or home broadband?

                This one:

                http://adsl24.co.uk/broadband/office/

It's not LLU where I live. I get 8M down consistently. I'm not in a big city so my exchange isn't ADSL2+

EDIT: The "business" package offers less contention, as I understand it. I figured this would keep my connection fast while others struggle in the early evening in the "after school" rush. I don't notice any slowdowns in "peak" periods.

However a noisy phone line is BT's problem whoever your ISP and with one you will prolly get a rubbish connection...
WHS, I'm with Nildram and have been for 6 years now, never a blip.

How far are you from your exchange?
Who has time? Who has time? But then if we do not ever take time, how can we ever have time?

Thanks. I think I'll give one of their home broadband packages a try. If that doesnt improve things I'll switch to one of their LLU packages.

Cheers for that. Im about 2 kilometers (max) from the exchange. However that's not the issue here. When I was on tiscali, my line speed was consistency 3.8MB/s and occasionally up to 4.2MB\s. Tiscali are LLU.

However since migrating to a supposedly superior ISP and service, first ADSL2 then 8Meg which incidentally costs a lot more than tiscali, the speed is pathetic.

Line noise which was present in the first 2 weeks of migration has now disappeared such that the BT Quiet Line Test is just that. But, Im still getting connection speeds of about 2.6 to 2.9 MB\s on the same line.
