    Ubuntu 9

Currently running 8.1 with Gnome and the update to 9.something is available.

Anyone upgraded? Is it stable? Any teething issues?

    TIA

I went from 8.10 to 9.04 and it went pretty good - except for OpenLDAP. You need to hold that update back. I don't know how to do that but I'm sure its all over the forums. I had to restore my LDAP from backup which only took a few minutes.

I then upgraded from ext3 to ext4 without any problems and the machine has been up ever since without any issues so far.

Won't install on my seriously old laptop but would take 8 though.

Screen res problems. I installed on my Inspiron 630m and it thinks my screen is 14'' when it is 15''. IIRC I had screen res problems going from 7 to 8.

Other than that it looks good. If you are running windows take a look at installing wubi. It will give you a good idea how the machine will run.

The Register is reporting problems with ext4: Fedora 11 leaps into filesystem unknown and Ext4 data loss.

Third time trying to get desktop running now on my laptop, not sure it is ever going to work and probably should have just left it at 8.

Got the server running on another machine but the screen was messed up, I had to 'guess' the login commands and the how to install SSH as I could not see the bottom 4 lines of the screen. Got it going and I can now run it from putty.
