    Partition Resizing

Any open source resizers that you recommend for XP?

I was dual boot XP and Vista until I got the XP drivers for my Vostro soundcard. Now that is sorted I want to ditch the Vista partition and reclaim it for the XP partition so that I can install my .NET sp.

I assume by "open source" you mean "free" but were just too embarrassed to say? Or did you specifically want the source code to build it yourself?

I've never found any good free partition managers (and I have looked).

But for a purchase product I can recommend Paragon Partition Manager (currently $80 but that's as nothing compared to your new Dell)

So why not just delete the Vista Partition and create a new partition for any data and new programs for XP?
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

I use Acronis True Image for disk backups re-sizing and moving to another disk.
I would backup the contents of the disk first though.

It is not free but is a good product. I also use it for upgrading a laptop hard disk to another larger one.

Yes I mean free, no I don't want source code and no I'm not embarassed about being a tightwad.

          hth.

I have been using GPARTED successfully on XP (and ME and 98SE and Linux)

Boot from the CD and you get to use gparted which works quite well if I remember correctly. QTParted was also quite good:

                http://qtparted.sourceforge.net/

which should be on the ultimate boot cd:

Much to my surprise GPARTED worked perfectly from a Live CD, still a bit nerve-wracking though!

Indeed it is! Especially when it has a few operations stacked up.

But it hasn't failed me ... yet.
