    Can you trust 'Windows Updates'?

Had the little yellow shield icon on my PC this morning telling me there are updates to install. Windows XP SP3.

I have started to install the update which is taking a while but I notice that Spybot is challenging quite a few of the registry entries which I guess is ok but I just wanted to know if we can trust these Windows updates or do we have to be careful?

      What could possibly go wrong?
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

The majority of Windows Updates are vulnerability fixes, I'd rather trust the devil I know than the devil I don't...

Windows Update was recently sold to a Nigerian company. Everytime you update it's actually nicking your credit card details.

Of course, if your dns service didnt get patched for all those nasty recent vulnerabilities then you may be getting your windows updates from some kind fellow in Moscow or Lagos.
