Another vote here for Avast Home Edition as a free standalone anti-virus solution. Regular updates and a low footprint.

That test was at the beginning of 2007. Microshaft were frantically writing updates for months after that report. I use Kaspersky. Checks my e-mails and checks for virus'. Removes/deletes everything and also notifies me of any registry changes so that I can refuse to accept them. Does the job for me and 1 licence allows you to put it on three machines.Comment

Not dissing Kaspersky but the latest version of Spybot alerts you to registry change attempts."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

Been using Kaspersky for a few years now and it seems to keep me clean. Have been nosing around as Sophos' offers recently as they seem to have some very nifty stuff for controlling networks and it's pretty quick, but I'll wait until my Kaspersky licence runs out before I get anything else

Big fan of F-Prot Internet Security here. Kept my system (and Halo's) clean for several years now.Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
