The third party app business is going to make a good deal of difference to the iPhone IMO - those features that are lacking can be provided via that route for those who want them, but the base system doesn't have to be bloated with features.

For example I personally can't think of a use I might have for MMS. If I wanted to send somebody a photo I'd probably want to send it to several people anyway, and a CCed email makes more sense for me (given that most of my friends have old phones anyway).

Yes - I have an application installed that allows me to use the phone as a spirit level.

There also many games making use of the accelerometer.

If you watch the iPhone 2 launch video on the apple site they slag off the use of the task manager. They also talk about the applications running in the background, which the iPhone does not allow.

You still have to pay the same as new customers for the phone when upgrading.

              Thanks.

(I'm very seriously considering getting one too now it has 3G)
Beauty is SDK, plenty of people have already written applications that provide MMS requirement. Personally I never use it. Although I do use an application that makes the iPhone an video camera.

I followed the keynote address at WWDC as it was happening - presumably the same thing. I chuckled when they slagged off the WinMobile Task Manager, as that's one of the things that made me go "WTF?" when I bought an HP iPaq the other year

I've never signed a mobile phone contract, and I never will. I'll get my iPhone on PAYG, like every other mobile I've ever had. I don't actually use a phone enough (being rather hard of hearing) to justify a monthly contract.

Post your number on here. Then wait for all the CUK weirdos (Lucy, Wilmslow, Bagpuss to name but one) to chat all day long.
