    Sample Data

Anyone know where I can download some dummy data for a workshop tomorrow. I need a good few thousand rows that can be analysed for reporting.

    Many thanks

Never tried them myself but google says you can download a data generator for free. First result as follows: Link

For MS Access and SQL Server you can download

      Northwind Traders
      Pubs
      AdventureWorks

These are sample databases populated with data.

      e.g. http://www.codeplex.com/MSFTDBProdSa...ReleaseId=4004

I thought MySQL had an upper limit on how much data it could store?

                  Not that I'm aware of......
Heard of people storing 8GB in one before.
Would be interesting to know if there is a limit to DB size.

Depends which storage engine you use - in MySQL 5.1 and 6.0 the default (myISAM) has an upper limit of 256 TeraBytes, whereas NDB has an upper limit of 384 ExaBytes (an ExaByte being 1024 * 1024 TeraBytes), and the Archive storage engine has no limit.

Of course you can also write your own storage engine if none of the standard ones meet your needs. Also, you might run into limitations imposed by your operating system, or indeed physical constraints such as space and power, before hitting the limits.
