        Excel attachment on Mac Mail, I openned it edited it saved it, where did it go?

        Oh I find the attachment now contains the changes.

        Just how cool is that?

            Outlook does the same

            Open message
            open attachement
            edit attachement
            save attachement
            close email
            click yes when it asks you if you want to save the changes to the attachement
            reopen email
            reopen attachement... oh look, its changed to how I edited it

            Of course as a user, thats bad practice as you've now lost the original attachement they sent you

                try going to

                C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK7C in XP - you will have to type this out in an explorer window

                for Vista change D and C for Users (i think)

                  looked in entire hard drive - nothing!

                    Sounds like vista is more careful over where and how temporary files are stored.
                    Which can only be a good thing
                    The temporary internet directories were never meant for the user to go poking around in anyway.

                    This is definitely a case of user error or miss use at least.
