Any devices or tips on making ebook reading better?

I've downloaded quite a few ebooks rather than buying the paperback versions, but don't find reading them on a monitor that inspiring.

Anyone used any of the newish ebook devices or found anything better than Adobe Reader for knuckling down and working through them?

I suppose my lack of enthusiasm is because it neither feels as natural, and there doesn't seem to be a way of bookmarking where you've got to or a section you may want to go back to.

Maybe I should just print them out!

Trouble I find with E-books, is that you can't lie down on the couch and read.
Arms get sore after a while holding a lap top in the air!!

I find E-books are ok if you have a split dual screens and you're working away through the examples as you go.

Maybe there is a point to that new Macbook Air after all.

Looks handy if portability is desired, if a little pricey. Would have to see one in the flesh to see if I believe the hype.

Another thing that annoys me about PDFs and Adobe Reader is that when you put in a page number it never goes to the right damn page. I suppose it's more the fault of how the pdf was created rather than the reader.

I've read quite a few books on my Sony Ericsson P910i. With the thumbwheel it works quite well.

              Sorry

What about turning them into Audio Books using one of the Audio readers.

Most IT contractors are well accustomed to that.

You don't want PDF format, you want something like ePub otherwise you'll be scrolling left to right as well as up and down, or resizing the text. ePub works like HTML in that the text reflows depending on screen size.

That said, I'm currently working on an eBook project and I'm not sure I'd recommend them for various reasons, the most heinous being the DRM.
