Guys,

What should a decent 20"/22" monitor cost - preferably a widescreen DVI model with good resolution?

24" BENQ running a native resolution of 1920 * 1080 with DVI and HDMI ports costs about £550 + VAT (May be even cheaper now). So less than that

I think the cheaper end of the scale is between £200 - £300.

This is less than £200 but you may need to look into quality/reliability.

Stick with the Samsung linked there, awesome price for an awesome panel. Dell monitors use Samsung panels, anything with ~4-8 ms access is what to go for.

I am still using my Dell 20.1" from a couple years ago and apart from too much backlight bleaching blacks a bit its awesome over DVI.

Won't buy anther monitor period, 1080p HDTV next for me with 1:1 Pixel mapping. Running a MacBook Pro at 46" of 1920x1080 sounds droolish

Shame that only does a resolution of 1280 * 800 and is not HD 1080p compliant. note that HD ready does not make it capable of displaying real HD content in its native resolution.It also doesn't have a DVI port to plug your graphics card into.
