    Excel pivot table issue

I edited the data in a pivot table. Not the source data, the pivot table. In particular it was in a row label. ( ).

    I saved without a backup ( )

Now I cannot get the row label to update when I add new rows to the source data. It uses the values I hard coded.

Any way round this? Apart from rebuilding the pivot table? I have tried all sorts of refresh.

Go to the pivot table edit, drag that data range out of the "Rows" section, then put it back in again. (might work)
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

I did try that - it failed.

After several hours of cursing, I eventually found that when I right click on row label there is an option to Subtotal the data! Clicking that worked.

I am a bit angry at excel for making this so complex. But more angry at myself for making a newbie mistake of not making a backup before editing.

Can someone pass me the CUK dunce's hat and point me in the direction of the corner please?
