    Toner refil Vs new

Anyone had any experience with toner refils for laser printers?

    New cartridges seem v. expensive.

Do the refills work or will I spend the rest of the weekend hoovering the mess up?

Yes they work...A friend of mine is an expert in this sort of area, but he is based abroad in one of those countries who "will bring loads of hungry immigrants after EU accession next year"...
I thought this type of work belongs only to "poor third-class would-be-EU tulipe countries" but now I can see the market ...I will tell my friend to book his bus ticket in advance...
    The rest is silence...

Well on the basis of the one refill I have tried I would say that results are variable. The print is considerably lighter on the refilled cartridge - not up to the standards of the original by a long way.

No mess though - I used the melt a hole method and it worked ok.

If your printer is still in warranty, you will almost certainly invalidate it.
I'd advise against refilled & recycled toner and the like, although with cheap printers these days you could probably justify the saving, even if you had to buy a new printer every now and then (and you will).

Anyone can recommend small A4 laser printer, ideally I want to know if HP is as still as good as they were with LaserJet 4 series. Colour might be nice, but not needed, particularly not wanted catched like expensive drum replacement combined with low life.

I bought a Samsung ML1610 Mono Laser 16ppm 600x600dpi USB Printer a few weeks back. Truly a disposable printer. I refilled the cartridge and print quality is still perfect.

How many text pages did it print before having to change cartridge? I've had enough from my cheap ink lexmark that drinks ink like octopus, so much in fact I almost smashed it to pieces - only stopped because it has got scanner which may be useful.

I have a Brother HL2030 bought from Staples on an impule for £99. Works with anything, shoots out pages at 16ppm and has done about 4500 sheets so far without emptying the toner (!). Works beautifully with cheap crappy paper as well.
