The other catch is your second contract is harder to get so be prepared.

Catch is until you are sat at the clients desk (or first invoice in or last payment is received) you have nothing. This could still evaporate before you even get started. Not common but can happen.

Firstly, Hi everyone! New to this forum and looking to move in contract World!

I've been offered my first contract at a decent rate, close to home and they are willing to wait while I serve my permie notice period, my question is what's the catch? Sounds too good to be true?

Friend of mine started contracting start of 2012, he's had two gaps since, 7 months and 5 months. So bit less than 50% of the time on the bench. Doesn't sound that good now, does it?
