Will do. Yes its a contract gig but I may be here for years. And since its inside IR35 I'd like to take the opportunity to pay a chunk into a pension rather than blow it all in tax/NI.

It's only a short term thing. The gig will end, you'll get another. We are contractors after all.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostWill do. Its pretty toss that I can only pay the minimum into pension like this.

Nope definitely wont let me do more than the minimum. Which is a bit crap to be honest. Something like £40 going in every week.
Sounds like they're doing the minimum required by law here with the pension thing. Which is crap. If Im paying shedloads of NI/TAX then I want to stick a good amount into the pension rather than get strung for stupid% in tax/NI.
Seems about right with them. Minimum they have to do with all things. Time to get a new umbrella methinks. No idea how they made it onto the preferred list.

Or more likely their payroll software cannot cope with it - or they just don't know how to do it!Originally posted by psychocandy View PostYep have done that. They're answer is that they will only sort out the minimum and won't let you increase any more.
Sounds like because they can't be bothered.

Appreciate that you've got to pay into their scheme to reap the maximum benefits but are there any umbrellas out there who will let you pay more than the minimum?
I'm with Sterling and they're set up with NEST. All good. BUT they'll only do the absolute minimum (1%?) which is not a lot. Anything else they say, needs to be done via AVC and direct debit. Not the best way because I want to make employer and employee contribs to save on NI.
