    Thanks to all.

I have a query with my hosting providers about bugzilla and trac. They can't run bugzilla, and I'm not suprised

Trac is a prospect. Wiki and SCM does float my boat

Also I have found a mailing list for eventum and have logged a case.

    That's fresh eyes for you.

All I need to do now is repair the DC jack on my laptop, rebuild it, reinstall everything and set up my virtual environment for running SQL server.

    Phew

Have you considered trac - http://trac.edgewall.org/

We've found it's much easier for internal non-tech users to use versus bugzilla, plus it's got an integrated SCM viewer and wiki (if that floats your boat).

Oh, and email works for us ;-)

Got lumped with trying to solve similar problems and it always felt like you were starting from scratch. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a fresh eye.

Didn't mean to sound depressing - just realistic

Anyway, once this stuff is sorted out it'll probably be easier to deal with any other issues that crop up as there's a decent amount of info about Bugzilla out there. The problem with these initial configuration issues is that they happen in so many contexts that it's very hard to find the information that's relevant in a sea of Google results, most of which are relevant to somebody else instead.

Have you got "AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl" in there?

Also, have you restarted Apache after making changes? That's something I sometimes forget to do

And also check the shebang thing mentioned above.

EDIT: also, is the shebang (the first line of the script, starting "#!") pointing to the perl executable?

I just get the feeling that anything I try to touch tonight will turn to rattulip so I'm off to bed.
