I've got an HP printer/scanner, Deskjet F2100 series, small footprint and it's been flawless, was a cheapo from Staples.

I'd stick to Canon for printers too.
Their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is generally the lowest for home printers.
Lexmark is generally the highest TCO.
Rule of thumb - the cheaper the printer, the more expensive the inks...

Never had problems with HP stuff (bought 5 in total). Have had trouble with Brother, Epson and Lexmark. Bought a HP combo device from Tesco Direct last week for my dad, it was about £58. WiFi enabled too, good kit. And double Tesco clubcard points too.

My wife bought me a Canon MX300 printer / scanner / fax / copier, its pretty good, I just wish she had asked me first I would have preferred a different Canon with a LAN interface.

(BTW, I have a Samsung).
It is incredibly slow and the print quality is unbelieveably bad for a laser printer, I have never had a printer with such crappy printing.
It is currently in my loft and I am using a Canon Inkjet printer that is both faster and produces better quality.

Thanks for the information chaps. The Canon recommended by Luigi looks a safe bet, plenty of positive comments about it on Amazon anyway.
I currently have an Epson RX620 which has done me proud for years.
A few weeks ago I unwittingly bought some non-Epson toner cartridges from Amazon Marketplace. Didn't realise they weren't official until I was putting them into the printer and found the were turning my fingers many colours.
They seem to have totally destroyed my printer! I've bought some Epson toners now (£60 worth) but looks like the damage has been done. All prints are coming out with a red tint to them and no amount of head cleaning seems to want to clear it up.
So, lesson learnt there for me! Pay more attention when buying toner.
Thanks alot

New printer/scanner
Hi
Anyone have any recommendations for a decent printer/scanner ?
Just for home use - printing out documents, photos, kids homework etc so not looking for anything heavy duty really.
Thanks
