I still come across a surprising number of websites that don't work properly with anything except IE. Often the webpages have forms with drop down boxes that don't work properly or you fill in the form and it doesn't send etc... Most frustrating.

Hey guys. Jake here with the IE8 Outreach Team. You're correct in concluding that IE8 isn't available for Windows 2000. However, if you decide to upgrade your system in the future, the system requirements for Internet Explorer 8 can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/int...pport/system-r...

Nice website you've developed. Is that your own weather monitoring hardware you've got hooked up to it?Last edited by TheRefactornator; 1 May 2009, 19:48.

..but the browser scripting engine appears noticeably slower than FF and Chrome, at least from a user perspective with DHTML controls. It could be something to do with it still supporting all that ActiveX gubbins..I don't really know what the cause is, but there is a definitely UI lag in IE8 not seen in other browsers when using the ASP.NET 2.0 menu control and dynamic flyout menus are switched on.

It's even rendering the websites powered by my CMS correctly!

It also seems to me to be faster than both FF and Chrome, but that's a little hard to judge.

"Released"? Not for good behaviour, I'll bet.
Was it released or did it crash through some Windows and escape? If so, that'll probably be the last time you see it running successfully.
etc.
