My Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 is fab.
Easy to use or complicated if you want it to be!
I have no complaints, and would recommend it.

Which is what the Panasonic mentioned earlier is - a rebadged Leica for less money.

That reminds me of a tip I read on DPreview or similar a few years ago. The advice was to go for a manufacturer with long experience in quality lenses, and setting them up properly*. Leica definitely fits that bill.

* just because a camera has a bought in top name lens doesn't mean the associated software is all that good

Don't get sucked in to thinking 13MP on a tiny sensor is a good thing. You'll end up with grainy pics in anything other than perfect light. Better to go for something smaller MP, but better quality lens and processing.

Cojak - trust me the Sony W300 is the one to get. It's £182 so yes a bit more expensive but at 13Mp it's future proofed for longer and has a heap of great features, while still being very easy to use.

I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 in the spring for £130 which is a great camera.

It was quickly superseded by the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 but I wasn't fussed as the big price difference at the time didn't warrant the few additional features.

DP Review said that it was better the Fuji tested, which surprised them as Fuji is usually excellent...

I've heard Sonys are not good in low light conditions.

Don't know if this is true for all their cameras.
