The problem with over heating isn't with windows, its more likely the core duo 2 processor which tends to get hotter than the surface of the sun just by being switched on.

Use a Mac - average processor activity does not rise much above 5% when surfing, Mailing, office.
Use a PC - Refer to Vista thread and background processes.

damn i had one of them but i gave it g'friend chef as she doesnt own a coffee table or in fact any table and i thought they we're kind of grandpa ish (mine was tartan and an outcast donated by mum during student days)..

I've heard good reviews of the Belkin Cushtop range, but to me they look to block any vents on the underside of the laptop. They're available from Amazon, Play, etc.

Notebook / Laptop Coolers
I'm fed up of toasting my nads while sat with my laptop on my lap due to the heat coming from the bottom of it..
have been looking into getting a notebook cooler of some sort, it seems there are various products around but was wondering if the crowd would recommend any particular brand/type.
the vantec lapcool's seem to be popular but the latest model is the lapcool5 and I cant find any uk shop (inc ebay) that sells anything more recent than the lapcool2..Tags: None
