If someone's willing to use Linux they're probably technical enough to install it themselves, so why not just provide a bare laptop, a driver CD, and let the customer choose what to install.

That goes for Windows as well. The number of times they come with XP Home and I've had to install XP Pro over the top, I could count on one hand, but it's still a ball-ache even having to do it once.

I'd much prefer to get a bare laptop and install my favourite OS myself, even if just to avoid all the crap they install by default.

they have to do something to get their sales up again, they've added Linux into the mix, recently added AMD procs and are apparently 'getting back to basics'. They are no longer the cheapest either, something which led to a lot of their previous success. Expect to see prices coming down or sales go through the floor.

I like the Dells; I used them in my previous permie role and had no problems whatsoever; currently use a HP though and again thats fine!

Wonder if the lack of Windows OS will bring the price of the units down!??!?!? I doubt it!
