I think the warranty sealed it really, 3 year onsite sounds excellent.

really appreciate the help, probably would have ended up spending about 4k despite my initial budget. Cheers

    I would go for

Refurbished Cheap Laptops and 2-in-1 PCs: Dell Outlet | Dell UK

personally - better screen resolution (QHD) and there is nothing between an i7 and i9 H processor for day to day use

    Intel Core i9 12900H vs i7 12700H: performance comparison (nanoreview.net)

DOAL29114 gets you another 14% off which should give you 3 year warranty for the £2450 (inc VAT)

i can’t remember the last time i used a dvd drive tbh so nope i have an external one somewhere.

its a desktop replacement, i occasionally will travel to a clients but mostly i will use it connected to a monitor.

Main things are fast, lots of memory and a decent graphics card.

Alienware keeps coming up but some reviews haven’t been kind.
Reality is that if you want to run VR from a laptop you have to accept a different set of compromises (fast video cards consume stupid amounts of power)..

And the other sane option (Razer) will make those Alienware machines look cheap...

    Preferred screen size?

What ports do you need? Network, USB (a/c), HMDI etc?

Do you need a DVD drive?

Is is a desktop replacement, so not going to be used as a portable carry about with weight not an issue?

started a topic New Developer Laptop, any ideas?

    New Developer Laptop, any ideas?

My surface book 2 is starting to show it's age and it's time to retire it. I'm looking for a laptop mainly for development but a decent graphics card would be good. I don't plan on playing games but would like to be able to run my oculus rift s on it.

I have no idea about laptops really, but was looking at this - mainly from tweets of people I follow and YouTube.

Legion Legion 7i Gen 6 (16″ Intel) | Gaming laptop with superior visuals | Lenovo UK

I'm after a fast laptop, 32gb ram, decent graphics card and lots of storage, any ideas? Budget 3k, must run windows.

Working...
