Spoke to O2 this morning & told them I wanted my pac code & hey presto! Theres a solution.

They're sending me a signal booster which doesn't boost signal at all but is a box that allows you to make calls over wi-fi. You can register 30 different numbers & you need 3mbps broadband speed, apparently.

Oh, and it costs £150 but I got it free as I threatened to pull the plug on O2.

They used to give those out to business customers. Result for you!

Well that's this issue solved in the next month and a bit.
I took a look on the O2 Community boards, and people ain't too happy about the new fangled setup. I for one use TuGo a lot, due to living in such an isolated spot on the tip of SW Wiltshire.

So it looks like calls over WiFi will only work on a flagship device purchased from O2.

And even then, SMS won't be supported (yet).

What dumb f**k came up with this idea?

Look - if vodafone were the only service provider in my area I wouldn't have much choice would I? As it happens, I prefer to avoid them just as some Sunderland fans don't eat Sugar Puffs.

Anyhow, baqck on topic - I've just received an email from O2 stating that they are discontinuing the Tu Go app at the end of November.

But, hey! Not to worry - you don't need an app to make calls over WiFi anymore - just so long as you're using an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Sony device
