The Y800 just stays on too, not seen any reason to replace it, speeds are right up there with what ever I need and small enough to slip in my bag

So you reckon it's the Osprey that is the issue, not the service? I get 2-3 bars 4G which is plenty; I'm not sure if there might be contention(?) issues where there is signal but their end is too busy, or if the hardware itself is cruddy.
I only got the Osprey because I needed a solution right away and had no internet to research better. I think I'll get a better device next time since the coverage with EE here is good enough and when it works, the service is great.

I've replaced the above with an huawei e5377 which is both smaller and faster than the y800. It also stays on until you switch it off or the battery dies as I've just discoveredOriginally posted by darrylmg View PostI agree with this ^
I've got the Osprey thing and it's rubbish. Poor wifi signal also.

It seems like the device is actually not shutting off but the internet connection is getting 'stale' - the device reports connection but it stops working unless you reboot it.
Oh well.

If that doesn't get through, there are issues

gmail, facebook etc will have connections open and polling for updates very frequently. So a bit mysterious why it's disconnecting....

One thing I thought was a connection issue is actually that after 30 min of no use, it disconnects from the internet and you have to physically go and press a button - I kept thinking it had lost the connection and was crappy.
There is no setting to disable this but surely there must be a way to fake it being used that smart technically minded folk can think of? I'm a little confused that having gmail/Facebook open on my laptop, and the fact my mobile is polling for email/Messenger/etc, is not keeping the connection open - realistically what can it be using to reset its 30min countdown and how can I trigger this every few minutes to keep the device active?
