Fitted one of the first Go Pro's onto my bike about 6 years ago for a jaunt with the club around Scotlandshire. Took great pains to fit it so that it was "looking" through the bubble screen, what I didn't spot was that the camera was somewhat wider angled than I thought. Had to waste almost 2 gig of bike video for some reason that escapes me now...

Got myself a Drift Stealth 2 action cam for the motorbike. Stuck to my lid it gives a great view of the road, my speedo, overtaking manoeuvres and double white line antics.

Errm, better just stick it in DVR mode and take it easy....

I think there might be solutions to that. I have a similar problem in that I have a convertible, so attaching to the rear windscreen is out. I have seen solutions online where you make a little housing and glue it to the underside of your boot rail near the lock. Something must be similarly possible for your van. Or why not put mount it in the bumper?

I DMOR and bought one of these :

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/TOGUARD-Andr.../dp/B016D68TV6

It has a front 1080p camera and a rear 720p camera. It goes over your existing rear view mirror, and I podged all the cables into the correct nooks and crannies so it's undetectable to the causal passer by.

It has a built in 5'' android touchscreen on the mirror part, and stands as a fully functioning quad core android tablet.

I piggyback it to my iPhone for wifi, and installed the Waze app for satnav, which works well.

As it was imported from China, the voice has a strong Chinese accent, so when I fire up the Saab it starts the dashcam and the lady announces "Now lecording", I finish giggling and we move off in glorious Technicolor.

Just tried the app on my Android tablet and ok at about 20m, signal shows as fair. Might do further but back of my van/neighbours parked cars in the way. Live streams as you said, also lets you change settings and download a track. The online PDF has more info than the provided quick start guide.

Got mine on a home made fixing so hinges up out of sight when parked but you could also unclip from stick on pad thing although a bit stiff.

May I ask have you tried the built-in wifi? if so what range do you typically get?

Also what do you think of the unit size? It's a little larger than some now on the market. I have the DrivePro 200, still boxed currently and wondering whether to return it for something smaller / more discreet for permanent fitting.

I like the idea of live wifi streaming. The car is usually parked pointing back at the house so it could double as a security cam if this actually works.

There was a robbery in Chestnut Avenue, Eastleigh, Hampshire at 16.32 on 28/12/2015. The offenders fled in a car with an expensive dashcam. You wouldn't know anything about this would you sir?

I'd just overtaken them - I was on my way back into the middle lane but also wanted to clear the on ramp that you can just see on the left. Cheeky.

Why are you driving in the outside lane with nothing in the middle lane?

I've got a MiVue dash cam that I bought from Halfords for around £150. Very pleased with it. It has GPS, G-Force and speed camera alerts as well. The PC software is something else though - you can replay your journey in real time with GPS, on a map, showing the g-force acting on the car all in HD. Geek heaven.

As an aside, I caught an accident in front of me last month which helped settle someone's insurance claim.

Note how I blanked my speed from the image....

As my driving is the most dangerous I've ever seen, I think I'll give this gadget a miss. Not point in recording myself in my £100K Audi a couple of cm from the car in front at 155mph.
