There used to be a time when agents were polite, returned your e-mails and calls (well some of mine did) and then the recession kicked in and they don't have to bother with that any more because its you and 3000 other candidates vying for a job that pays peanuts.

You forgot to ask for a passport and two utiliy bills.

And national insurance number as well as mother maiden name, town of birth, pin number.

Do you have 5 years experience with Office 2007? I see you are a fully certified DBA; can you write SQL? Do you live within 30 miles of our client, who has a strict carbon footprint policy? I’d like to put you forward for this role; can you provide two references?

Just thought I'd come and join you all on the "bench" since I have been lurking for a wee while - some great threads on here, mostly about agencies trying it on with rates and references, etc. Whilst reading them I've thought "they tried that with me!" Finished last contract in mid Feb so fingers crossed I'm not on the bench as long as last year (7months).
