It’s sunny out, with high wispy cloud here and there, and already at the day’s high of 19°C which is expected to persist until teatime. The barometers seem cautiously optimistic, being up a little at 1010/1018mB

The chestnut tree out the back and the huge sycamore in next door’s garden out the front are getting into their colour-changing phase; it started on a small scale a while ago, but they seem to have decided it’s time to go full steam ahead with it now

Last 10 minutes or so of "Anzio (1968)" wherein Robert Mitchum plays the role of dear old Wynford Vaughn-Thomas who was actually there as a war correspondent. Well there's tidy then, boyo. Shades of U571 in spades. And almost everything else the septics put out, though this was an Italian American de Laurentis production.

Some minor gardening undertaken: ivy. The burn pile gets ever higher.

Tea: soup etc. Enlivened by another piece of tooth falling off. Getting rather fed up with this now.

Entertainment: PM. It'd be nice if the mouthy presenter would STFU & let others talk a little.

The Other Goering brother, being Albert Goering who helped numerous Jewish people during WWII. Porton Down & the way they killed test subjects. Testing various supposedly innocuous agents (ZnCdS and some bug) to what might happen if the real stuff was used. Some of said agents proved to be rather less innocuous than originally thought.

Tonight’s motion picture premiere was Crawl (2019) in which a young lady and her father find a way to patch up their fractured relationship by dint of being trapped in the underfloor crawlspace of their Florida home with more than one alligator during a Cat-5 hurricane and the floods attendant thereon. It’s all a bit bitey, as one might expect, and none the worse for that. Apparently there’s a sequel due next year, and I expect - nay, demand - that the continuity people will have all the right scars in all the right places for such of the characters as are in it. There were only her and him left at the end anyway, so that doesn’t seem like too much to ask

And then a rewatch of Whiplash (2014) because it’s excellent; you don’t even have to be in to jazz to appreciate this one

Finally, not one but two episodes of Dark Matter (TV Series 2024– ) being S1E4 and S1E5. I’m less ambivalent about this now because it feels like it’s finally starting to go somewhere with its underlying concept. I reckoned from the fourth one that they should have squeezed all the stuff in the first three into E1, but E5 left me thinking that maybe it needed at least E1 and E2? I still think they could have moved the early stuff along faster, but at least it’s all coming together now

Lots of deliveries coming this morning as my brother and I decided some cameras and one of those video doorbells needed to be installed to help keep Mum safe. HWMBO recommended Ubiquiti kit so that means he's charged with helping to set it up.
