I have always found this stuff interesting, I read that with no problems.
I always understood that your eyes only pass a fraction of the information to your brain that you think you see, your brain fills the rest of the picture in.
That is why, under certain influences, your brain can complete completely the wrong picture.
Years ago, out clubbing one night, I once spent ages intently watching an "Exit" sign, convinced that I was watching a monitor showing a cricketer being run-out on a repeating loop.
My brain interpreted the green sign as the glow of an old colour TV monitor, the door on the sign as the stumps, the figure on the sign as a cricketer running, and the dashed line between the figure and the door as a cricket ball moving through the air.
It was a long time ago, I have grown up and don't have nights out like that any more.
