I am sure they will "realise" long before then but I guess 3 years is a realistic time before they tacitly admit it, even if only by jumping on another short term bandwagon.
Funny how short sighted they are isn't it really, it's always a case of we can say X amount if we do this but they never go on to say that over a 3-5 year period it's going to cost X amount more
Worked for Barclaycard at the height of the financial crisis, banks were falling over and I made a good profit out of it. At that point in my department of about 200 people 90 of them were contractors.
The banking crisis was a good time for contractors in Barlacys
The Nationwide are no better than the banks - in terms of treating the permies like crap.
last year they got rid of all permie developers and replaced then with Crappcenture offshore folk. I give it 3 years before they realise what a bad idea that was...

Bit touchy? No that they have a more permie "job for life" attitude and don’t take to being let go that well. Whereas other contractors are perhaps more used to it. Anyway keyboard warrier, call me a w*nker to my face. I’m in the city if you wish to meet...
Bridgwater is the traditional contractor place for a spat, just don't get confused and end up at the nearby dogging hotspot
Am currently at a smaller bank and absolutely love the work and people I am working with. When the banks become beasts they start acting like Public sector organisations. Have worked at Barclays twice in the past and while the place is great the work certainly isn't.
And your point is what? That makes every contractor at a bank a lesser being?
