Back on the topic of houses with no neighbours, a couple of months ago I was slightly tempted by Harehope Cottage, which is in the middle of a large forest miles from any other residential property (although there is a nearby farm), but only about 20 miles from Edinburgh. It was on the market for £330K, but it looks like it has now been sold or withdrawn from sale.
But then I remembered the clouds of midges that follow you around in Scottish forests, and the bitterly cold winters.
