Bloody spineless Londoners!
Why not just put your furniture outside your front door with a price tag, like we used do in the old days?
Or do you all live in Peckham?

They wouldn't tell me!Originally posted by SimonMac View PostHow did you get a life time ban, and can you forward the reason onto Admin here!
It happened immediately after I had put up for auction a "date with myself" as a (joke) attempt to get some female action. My mate Jim bid 1p, and the next thing I knew is they had pulled the item, and me.
Apparently it was "adult services", and is not allowed. Hmmm..
Maybe I should have put on a higher reserve

How did you get a life time ban, and can you forward the reason onto Admin here!Originally posted by KentPhilip View PostI dislike Ebay, because they gave me a lifetime ban, the bastards.
So now I have to use a "stealth" ebay account (false name, address etc).
Why don't you take your old tat down to the local charity shop, and let them sell it, instead of trying to Ebay it. You won't make any money, but is is a lot less hassle than ebay, and you get the sense that you are contributing to good causes.

I feel the same about my bikesOriginally posted by doodab View PostI'm actually about to shift a load more stuff on ebay, got a bit behind but I have a few reasonably high value photographic and musical items to shift plus I may as well get rid of at least two of my three bikes seeing as I no longer ride them. Shame to see them go as one of them is the Reynolds steel frame I used to ride around on in my student days.

WHSOriginally posted by d000hg View PostGumTree is best for local stuff you want collected IMO but even then eBay is probably better.
You could still put an ad in your local classifieds though, such things are still around.
The one problem with eBay is you can't list it on other sites as well, you're breaking their T&Cs if you terminate the auction because you sold it through another channel.
Definitely gumtree.

We've only sold big items on eBay and it was strictly cash and collection only. Saves having to deal with all the piss takers who want a courier service but won't pay for it etc.

Don't underestimate the fun of watching the auction price on ebay!

Sold my car on Gumtree, advert went up at 10pm on the Saturday, motor was gone (for 50 quid less than my asking price) by the next day at 6pm, very happy with the service.Originally posted by cojak View PostI've got some old hi-fi and furniture to sell, but I've never used ebay and am a bit intimidated by it if I'm honest.
Are there any alternatives to ebay that I can use? Something like the old Ad-mags that I've used in the past? What's Gumtree like?
