Pattaya sucks. Head back to Bangkok, Soi 11 (I've always liked the Dolls House, its where I hired a waitress as a translator for a couple of weeks when I used to buy & learned to speak Thai). Soi Cowboy is good for a laugh, the other red light district is pretty crap but worth a visit. If you can get in with a local(see comment above) there is a whole world behind the Farang bars & I've had some great fun hanging out with locals in far away bars / houses.

I think you have watched too much deep space 9.

Ah a Soapy massage. Now that brings back some comedy Thai memories. Also try taking some Viagra, speed and hiring three hookers. Always enjoyable.

I've been in Pattaya for a week now, and - it is still wall to wall women, with a few ladyboys, gays, and russians scattered about the place.

I thought I would try recording a "video postcard" to family and friends, so I went up to a very fragrant ladyboy on the beach road, started up my video camera, and asked him to say a piece to camera for me.

    Say: "Love you long time"

    "Hey?" he replied.

"Love you longtime" I repeated, hoping he would get the idea.

"You wat longtime" he replied? "I no do longtime. Only short time. 600 bahts"

"Er no" I replied, and went on my way. 600 bahts is around 12 quid. Cheaper than Soho

"You sexy boy" he said, as I walked away.

Next I took a walk down the imfamous "Soi 6" a road where every bar is filled with real girl hookers and offers of upstairs nookie nookie for under 30 quid. 20 yards in I found myself surrounded by them all trying to entice me into their bars, and one of them reached her hand down towards my groin. With the quick thinking of the englisman abroad I took her hand in mind and brought it up level with a "Jolly nice to meet you my dear", as I shook it.

Anyway I can't chat long as I have to continue to sample the delights of this city. I can't decide between an exotic live dance show, or a soapy massage with Suzi and Mai. Decisions decisions...

I would steer well clear of Bangkok, there have been several clashes between the two factions over the last 10 years (and before). They seem quite keen on small bombs and random shootings.

It all really started when Thaksin Shinawatra realised he could get massive support by buying the peasants votes, leaving him to rake it in with corrupt deals. The traditional elite Democratic Party (mainly Thai/Chinese, aka Yellow Shirts to show their support for the king) didn't like him muscling in on their corrupt deals and he was ousted in a military coup, that was around the time he bought Man City. His party (AKA Red Shirts) was dissolved and the MPs barred from standing but a newly formed party led by his sister got in by a landslide and have won every election since by a wide margin.

The Reds have forced a new election but realise they are going to lose again so want reforms to take away the right to vote from the peasants. They are currently blockading strategic locations in Bangkok and are intent on disrupting the elections until the rules are changed to suit them. Outside Bangkok thinks are pretty much normal.

The ping pong shows in Pattaya were in a club called B+W when I was there. The town hold the dubious accolade of having more prostitutes than any other city.
Well I've been in London at the time of the riots several years ago, but terrorist bombs are a new item to add to the mix I guess

I'll have to think about what to do some more. Ah Phuket I'll go to Phuket

That is a good point - there is a distinct pong in many places here - and it not my tee-shirts.
I think I'll go back there in a few days - once I have checked out ALL of the interesting activities for a single male here
