My contracts always specify the rate and currency of payment. I've never seen one that didn't mention the currency.

I think it's worth putting in wording to explicitly say that the contract is in Pounds Sterling.

I think that I will put myself forward for the role with the pound Sterling being a requirement.
I would quite like a contract in Scotland and the cheap airline tickets compare well with the train to London.
