As with Robbie Williams, their best stuff isn't the singles. Flame was an eye opener.

I have seen the film and read the book. The book's even grittier.Originally posted by stek View PostAnyone seen their movie, Slade in Flame? Very good, not the usual 70's sugar coated swoon fest, in fact very gritty and true to life..
One thing I noticed a while back is that where many lead singers strap on a guitar and strum a few chords occasionally, Noddy is really quite a decent guitarist in his own right.

Saw them in 1980 in Exeter..
They were very loud. Drummer smashed his kit up at the end.
Must get hold of a copy of their film, what was it? Flame or something...

They were far better than they get credit for now, and were huge in their heyday.Originally posted by cojak View PostThat advert on telly has caused me to re-purchase my old Slade albums.
They were a great band and much better than 'Merry Xmas Everybody' would suggest.
