He's claiming he was arrested for the Mandela jokes. It's not clear that that is the case. He may have been arrested and quizzed over the other material he posted. All plod says is:
Staffordshire Police declined to go into detail about the nature of their interview with Mr Phillips
Very murky waters.

Then again, the next time anyone makes a joke about Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Thatcher (*), Blair, Sun Myung Moon, etc. should also be treated in the same manner...
(I believe that the: 'Mandela is a grubby little terrorist' quote attributed to her is in fact an Internet rumour although she did say "The ANC is a typical terrorist organisation … Anyone who thinks it is going to run the government in South Africa is living in cloud-cuckoo land.")

Amen - and it's political correctness gone mad, a sadly uncommon occurence.Originally posted by original PM View PostIt is not for our politicians to say what we can and cannot say.
This is an abuse of power by the politician who has used his influence with local plod to victimise this man because of a dispute over a mining memorial.
Said politician should be removed from office for abuse of power.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to original PM again.

further down it says he posted a decapitation picture, which is probably more offensive.
They do realise Mandela wasn't actually a Deity?

there is surely some irony in here?
you know someone effectively having their freedon of speech denied for making jokes about a man who campaigned for freedom of speech (and freedom in general) for a race of people.
it is a farce he has done nothing wrong except tell a few jokes in poor taste.
ffs
