I usually wear a tie for at least the first week until I feel the coast is clear.

At the last contract everyone was dressed so scruffy that I had to stop wearing a tie when the guy who hired me actually started to smarten himself up. The type of office where only the most senior managers normally wear a suit.

It may be a bad move on my part, but as it stands, I need to force the issue and either get them to release me from the contract, or get me on site.
I would have told them you were available. If the other lot get their act together then you can always cancel the interview. As soon as you said you were in contract your CV will have gone in the bin I'm afraid.

If you have an interview and it turns into a gig, don't ask the first lot to cancel the contract, tell them that the indefinite delay to the start date is a breach of the contract and you're terminating it. It shouldn't be a one-sided relationship where they hold all the power.

Unfortunately I don't have the option to terminate in the contract, so I will push them to terminate the contract, via mutual agreement.

If you sit there waiting how long are you going to wait for? A day or a week or a month.... Very quickly you are looking at a large gap on your CV and no money in the bank account....

In other news its remarkable how many other people still haven't read the entire thread..
