Current main contract ends on the 24th December so who knows! Enforced until the 2nd Jan at least!

Got no idea. Would like a few days off to sort some stuff out and chill but quite happy to work as much as possible to replenish the warchest. Might spend a few days with GF#1 but she's normally at her busiest over the Xmas/NY period, although GF#2 should be around.

mainly because it is always quite and so easy to catch up on stuff but also often nothing else to do!

I would be quite cheesed off if this happened to me. You're in a contract to the company but unable to work.

We often take 2 weeks in January so I personally would rather choose when to take my time off.
Offices close between Christmas and new year. Its hardly surprising as so few people want to be in that it becomes impossible to do real work. So inevitable companies just close for the few days....

2yr 2 month contract ends here on Friday , there's whsipers of another project starting up early new year and so I intend to have a relaxing "do nothing/play GTA V" style december before enjoying christmas and the new year and then starting the next contract hunt in Jan and finding out if the new project panned out as hoped.

Contract ends 20th December and I have no wish for an extension here, and can't see there being any work for me anyway, so looking forward to some much needed time off to catch up with my wife and hopefully something new will crop up in late January / early February.

Enforced time off betwixt Xmas Eve and 2nd Jan BUT by choice I would work every day expect the BH and weekend.
I can find many better times of the year to have time off and with no traffic and most people at home glowering at rarely seen relatives, the traffic is sweet too.
I like xmas but cabin fever does start to kick in after a few days !

Finish on Thursday 19th, start back on Tuesday 7th.

Then I'll spend the following three weeks trying to sort out whether there is an extension or not before the end of January.

Our contracts already say that we have to take 25 days a year, presumably re trading and other government/banking requirements.
Their core leave is 2 consecutive weeks, with no access to either Blackberry or PC. That's an anti-fraud requirement. It's considered long enough that whoever is covering the work while you're off will discover if you're up to something.

Well, I start my new contract this week, but am still planning on two weeks off over Christmas.
I was asked in the interview if I had any hols booked and mentioned my intention to have 2 weeks off at Christmas so no surprises for client co.

Although traveling by train from London to Manchester on Friday the 20th should be fun!
