I used to be a member of the Simba Lion cub club. Simba was (is?) a brand of crisps (chips as we called them). I got a special mention in their newlsetter (which took weeks to reach us surface mail) when I moved to the UK as their most distant member

Kudu is absolutely delicious meat; full of flavour and very tender.

I didnt see too many cats or dogs in SA or Botswana, so I was a bit wary of eating the meat. at first.
then the sweetness of the food in general moved me to eat the 1lb steaks with chips.

very nice. some of the sauces are brilliant. and I discovered Achet (sp?) a sort of spicy relish, that the locals eat with everything.

anyways mich, thanks for your advice before i went, it helped. I have some grand stories

It would have to be a very young steenbok without horns, and it's a bit big for a juvenile at 1m. Perhaps a big juvenile.

It's got horns. Little straight steenbokky ones.

Hmm, too big for a dik-dik. Dunno. Not a duiker either; they're smaller than 1m.

a lone male elephant had pulled the fence down a few days before we got to the camp, so we had all sorts sniffing around. I sat there on a bench overlooking the river, swigging lager,watching them, till the mossies drove me indoors
